Earthmaster Co-Authors a New Book Chapter

Earthmaster Environmental Strategies Inc. is pleased to announce that Perry Gerwing has co-authored a recently published book chapter in collaboration with Drs. Karen Gerhardt and Bruce Greenberg at the University of Waterloo.

“Chapter 2 - Phytoremediation of Salt-Impacted Soils and Use of Plant Growth Promoting Rhizobacteria (PGPR) to Enhance Phytoremediation” in Phytoremediation - Management of Environmental Contaminants, Volume 5, describes the successful use of Earthmaster’s PEPS™ technologies to re-vegetate salt contaminated soil and improve plant health leading to decreased soil salinity.

This book follows on the 2015 release of “Chapter 16 - Microbe-Assisted Phytoremediation of Petroleum Impacted Soil: A Scientifically Proven Green Technology” in the Handbook of Oil Spill Science and Technology, also published in collaboration with Drs. Gerhardt and Greenberg. This chapter describes the advantages and challenges of the use and commercialization of phytoremediation (and microbe-assisted phytoremediation). Case studies summarizing successful field applications of PEPS are provided which illustrate the effectiveness of this technology for overcoming plant stress in petroleum contaminated soils and the successful remediation of hydrocarbon contaminants.
